Clare McCardell 1905-1958

"In this business, you have to be exciting or basic. I figured we're to small to be basic, so we had to be exciting". Claire McCardell

Claire McCardell designed clothing that was functional with clean lines and an American look. She is known for her mix and match swimwear, wrap-around sashes, monastic dress, harem pajamas, and large pockets with top stitching. She also designed bias-cut dart less clothes with an easy-to-wear relaxed look.
